Terrey Hills Rugby Club is part of the Warringah District Village of clubs for Junior Rugby.
Mini Rugby is a modified style of rugby for children from under 6 through to under 9 years.
Our smallest players in the under 6 and under 7s game learn to play a non contact verion of two handed tag rugby, the focus is on participation, ball handling and running skills. There are up to 8 players in each team and the coach is on the field with the team for each game. Both boys and girls particiapte in U6 and U7 Rugby. Games are two 15 minute halves.
Under 8 and under 9 rugby sees the introduction of some more technical skills in the game. Tackling is introduced and lineouts. The number of players in the team increases to 10. In the under 9 age group the field size increases and a modified scrum is introduced. Girls can particiapte in under 8 and under 9 rugby or they can transition to the all girls competiton. Games are two 20 minute halves.
Mini rugby focus is on participation and fun, there are no scores kept.
All players are encouraged to use mouthguards from their first game in under 6 rugby.
